# Bilingual Call Support: Automatic English and Spanish

> Ring Jenny automatically detects Spanish and switches languages mid-call — no setup required, no extra cost, included on every plan.

Ring Jenny serves your Spanish-speaking callers just as naturally as your English-speaking ones. The moment Ring Jenny detects Spanish in a caller's first few words, it shifts seamlessly into Spanish and continues the entire conversation in their language — no menu options, no awkward pauses, no extra configuration on your end.

## How Language Detection Works

Ring Jenny listens to the caller's opening words and identifies the language automatically. There's nothing you need to configure for this to work — it's built into every Ring Jenny agent by default.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Caller speaks in their preferred language">
    The caller says their first few words — in English or Spanish. Ring Jenny catches the language signal immediately.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ring Jenny matches the language">
    If the caller is speaking Spanish, Ring Jenny switches to Spanish right away and continues the entire conversation accordingly. If the caller speaks English, Ring Jenny stays in English.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Full Spanish capability throughout the call">
    Ring Jenny answers questions, books appointments, takes messages, and handles transfers — all in Spanish — using the same business knowledge and FAQs you've configured.

## Supported Languages

| Language | Status            |
| -------- | ----------------- |
| English  | ✅ Fully supported |
| Spanish  | ✅ Fully supported |

Additional language support is on the Ring Jenny roadmap. If your business serves callers in another language, contact support to register your interest.

## Customizing Language Behavior

While automatic detection handles most scenarios perfectly, you have a few options to tailor language behavior.

<Tip>
  If you run a dedicated Spanish-language phone line and want Ring Jenny to **always greet callers in Spanish**, add a language instruction to your greeting. Go to **Dashboard > Customize > Greeting** and include a note like: *"Always greet in Spanish on this number."* Ring Jenny will default to Spanish for every call on that line.
</Tip>

You can also use the greeting customization to set a bilingual opening — for example, Ring Jenny can greet with a short English phrase followed by a Spanish equivalent, letting callers self-identify their preference naturally.

## Call Transcripts and Language

<Note>
  Call transcripts are always stored in the **original language of the conversation**. A call conducted in Spanish produces a Spanish transcript. A call in English produces an English transcript. You won't receive machine-translated transcripts — what you read is what was actually said.

## Frequently Asked Questions

<Accordion title="What if a caller switches between English and Spanish mid-call?">
  Ring Jenny follows the caller's lead. If the caller shifts languages partway through, Ring Jenny adapts to match. The transcript reflects the actual language used throughout the conversation.

</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Is there an extra cost for Spanish support?">
  No. Bilingual support is included on every Ring Jenny plan at no additional charge.
</Accordion>

<Accordion title="Are the Spanish responses as accurate as English?">
