# Live Call Transfers: Route Calls to Your Team Instantly

> Route calls to the right person instantly — warm transfers include a live introduction so callers never have to repeat themselves. Scale and Growth plans.

Ring Jenny doesn't just take messages — it can pass calls directly to a human when the moment calls for it. Configure rules so Ring Jenny knows exactly when to transfer, who to send the call to, and how to hand it off. Available on the **Scale** and **Growth** plans.

## Two Types of Call Transfers

Ring Jenny supports two transfer methods. Choose the one that fits the situation — or use both for different scenarios.

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Warm Transfer">
    **Ring Jenny stays on the line, introduces the caller, then steps away.**

    In a warm transfer, Ring Jenny bridges the caller and your team member together before dropping off. Your team member hears a brief introduction — who's calling and why — so they can jump straight into the conversation with full context.

    **Best for:** billing questions, sensitive matters, VIP callers, or any situation where the caller shouldn't have to re-explain themselves.

    **How it flows:**

    1. Ring Jenny recognizes the transfer trigger (e.g., "I need to speak with billing")
    2. Ring Jenny tells the caller: *"Let me connect you with someone who can help — please hold for just a moment."*
    3. Ring Jenny dials your team member and introduces the caller: *"Hi Sarah, I have John calling about a billing question."*
    4. Ring Jenny drops off and the conversation continues between the caller and your team member.

    **Setup:**

    1. Go to **Dashboard > Settings > Call Transfers**
    2. Add the team member's name and phone number
    3. Set the transfer type to **Warm**
    4. Define your trigger rules (see [Transfer Triggers](#transfer-triggers) below)
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Cold Transfer">
    **Ring Jenny immediately routes the call without an introduction.**

    In a cold transfer, Ring Jenny connects the caller directly to your team member's line the moment the trigger fires. No introduction, no hold — the call passes through right away.

    **Best for:** simple routing (e.g., "press to reach the front desk"), high-volume situations, or when speed matters more than context.

    **How it flows:**

    1. Ring Jenny recognizes the transfer trigger
    2. Ring Jenny tells the caller: *"I'll connect you now — one moment."*
    3. The call is immediately forwarded to the team member's number.

    **Setup:**

    1. Go to **Dashboard > Settings > Call Transfers**
    2. Add the team member's name and phone number
    3. Set the transfer type to **Cold**
    4. Define your trigger rules
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

<Tip>
  Use warm transfers for important or sensitive calls. Your team member gets context before saying a single word — no awkward "wait, who is this?" moments.
</Tip>

## Transfer Triggers

Triggers tell Ring Jenny when to initiate a transfer. Set as many rules as you need.

## When a Transfer Doesn't Connect

<Note>
  If the team member doesn't answer, Ring Jenny doesn't leave the caller stranded. You can configure Ring Jenny to automatically offer the caller one of the following fallback options:

  * **Take a message** — Ring Jenny captures the caller's name, number, and reason for calling
  * **Schedule a callback** — Ring Jenny books a time for a team member to call back
  * **Voicemail** — forward to the team member's voicemail directly

  Set your preferred fallback in **Dashboard > Settings > Call Transfers > Fallback Behavior**.
</Note>
