# Set Up Spam Filtering to Block Unwanted Calls in Ring Jenny

> Stop robocalls and sales solicitations from consuming your Ring Jenny minutes with automated spam detection and custom blocking rules.

Every robocall and spam solicitation that reaches Ring Jenny uses your plan's minutes — even if no real conversation takes place. Spam filtering lets you automatically detect and end those calls before they cost you anything, so your minutes are reserved for real customers. You can set filtering to be as broad or as precise as you need.

## How Spam Filtering Works

Ring Jenny automatically analyzes each incoming call for common spam signals — robocall audio patterns, known spam number databases, and caller behavior indicators. When a call matches these signals, Ring Jenny ends it immediately without consuming your minutes. No transcript is generated, and no notification is sent for calls blocked this way.

<Info>
  Spam filtering is included in all Ring Jenny plans at no extra cost. There's nothing to unlock or upgrade — just configure the settings to match your preferences.

## How to Configure Spam Filtering

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to Agent Settings > Spam Filters">
    Log in to your Ring Jenny, click **Agent** **Settings** in the left sidebar, then select \*\*Spam Filters \*\*from the submenu.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable Detect Spam & Hang UP ">
    Make sure the **Detect spam and hang up** toggle is turned on. This is Ring Jenny's baseline protection — it blocks robocalls and known spam sources without any additional configuration.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Toggle Block Toll Free Numbers (Optional)">
    If you want to block all calls from toll-free numbers, turn on the **Block Toll-Free Numbers** toggle. If you have suppliers, partners, or vendors who call from 1-800 numbers, add those numbers to your allowlist before enabling this setting.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add Numbers to Your Blocklist (Optional)">
    Under **Custom Blocklist**, click **Add Number**, enter the phone number you want to block, and click **Save**. You can add as many numbers as you need.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add Numbers to Your Allowlist (Optional)">
    Under **Allowlist**, click **Add Number** and enter any numbers that should always get through regardless of your other filtering settings. This is the right place to add your suppliers, partners, or any contact whose number might otherwise be caught by your rules.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save Your Settings">
    Click **Save** to apply all your changes. Spam filtering rules take effect immediately on the next incoming call.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Be careful enabling **Block Toll-Free Numbers** if your suppliers, vendors, or business partners regularly call you from 1-800 or 1-888 numbers. Add those numbers to your allowlist first — otherwise those calls will be blocked automatically without any notification.
</Warning>

<Note>
  Calls blocked by spam filtering do not count against your plan's monthly minutes. Only calls that Ring Jenny actively handles — greets, converses with, or takes a message from — use your minutes.
